Parks & Recreation
Lamar Parks and Recreation strives to provide quality, welcoming facilities, programs and services for people of all ages in our community and beyond.
Parks and Recreation is much more than just the City Park and our Youth Recreation Programs. We also care for the Lamar City Lake, Wheeler Park, Moore Pavilion and Thiebaud Auditorium. We love to host events in the Lamar City Park, whether it is Picnic in the Park, ball tournaments or your private events, like class reunions or family parties. Visit the links on the left to learn more about each of these facilities. See our Civic Rec Online Catalog linked below to rent facilities or learn how to sign up for Lamar Youth Athletics Facilities.

Lamar Youth Athletics
Lamar Youth Athletics offers three seasons of programming for the kids of our community.
Winter brings basketball season for third through sixth graders in the Sac River Valley League. We compete against area towns with at least two home dates and the league tournament for at least one age group. Sign ups for basketball are in October, practices begin in November and games are in January and February.
Spring/summer is the time for our summer ball program. Five and six year olds play TBall and seven and eight year olds play machine pitch, all here on our home fields. 9-15 year olds play baseball and softball in the Sac River League against other local towns, with some games at home and some on the road. We host the championship tournament for at least one age group. Sign ups for summer ball are in February, with practices beginning in April and games in May and June.
Fall brings our soccer and flag football programs. Beginner soccer is for Pre-K and Kindergarteners, simply to teach them the basics of playing a team sport, work on coordination and just work their extra energy our. Intermediate soccer is for first through third graders when there is enough interest. Flag football is for first and second graders, to teach them fundamentals before playing tackle football in third grade. Signups for our fall programs are in July with practice beginning in August and games in September and October.
