Lamar City Park is open 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. daily. The Parks and Recreation Office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Enclosed Shelter, Shelter 2 (across the creek from the enclosed shelter), Shelter 3 (across from the playground by the basketball courts) and Shelter 6 (small memorial shelter across from the outfield of the high school baseball field) are all available to reserve for smaller events. There is a $25 deposit required to reserve, that is refundable, as long as all trash from your event is in the trash cans and no park property is damaged. The Enclosed Shelter also requires a $25 rental fee. Shelters 4, 5 and 7 at the City Park and the Shelter at Wheeler Park are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We do ask if you will have a group of more than 50 using one of these space, that you let park staff know so that we can have plenty of trash cans available for you.

There is overnight camping available only in the RV Park, located on the west side of the Lamar City Park. There are three electrical hookups available. There is a frost free hydrant available for filling by the green bathroom facility and a central dumping station on the southwest edge of the RV area. The first night you stay with us is free, each additional night is $20 up to a seven day maximum stay. There is currently no overnight camping allowed at the Lamar City Lake and no tent camping is allowed at any city facility.

The Lamar City Lake has 17 boat slips available, two being specifically for pontoon boats. They are rented per year beginning in March of each year. Currently all boat slips are filled, but people wishing to rent a slip may be put on a waiting list. First priority for slips is given to City of Lamar residents first, then residents of Barton County, then finally to those living outside Barton County. You may fill out a form here to be added to the waiting list.

Fishing and boating at Lamar City Lake requires a fishing permit by anyone over 16-year-old or older, unless they are over 65 and a resident of Barton County.
Season fishing and boating permits are good from January through December each year. They can be purchased in person at City Hall or the Parks and Recreation Office or online through our online catalog in the activities tab. Fishing is $30 per year, boating is $45 per year. Non-motorized boats (canoes, kayaks, paddle boats) do need a permit, however it is just $10 per year.
Daily fishing and boating permits can be purchased by using the drop box at the Lake Office on the south side of the lake or by using our online catalog in the activities tab.

The Thiebaud Meeting Rooms are an ideal spot for your next family event, party, class reunion, meeting or training session.
There are two meeting rooms in the front of the Thiebaud that can also be combined to make one big room. Room A is the room with the kitchen. With tables and chairs, it can seat 60 people comfortably. It also has a 42-inch television and a white board. The kitchen as a sink, stove and oven, refrigerator with freezer, microwave and dishwasher. We do not provide any serving ware or utensils.
The B Room does not have the kitchen, but has a small tiled area, a sound system, a 65-inch television and a white board. It was seat 80 people with tables and chairs.
Both rooms combined have seated up to 200 people.
The Thiebaud staff sets tables and chairs to your specifications for your event. All Thiebaud tables are rectangle tables, either 8 ft. banquet tables, narrow student tables or 4 ft tables.
Rental is done by the half day (any time period less than 6 hours) or whole day (any time period over 6 hours). There is a deposit required to reserve your space and reservations can be made at any time in advance of your event. Alcohol is permitted in the meeting rooms with a $200 alcohol fee, $100 of which is refundable.

The Thiebaud Auditorium seats up to 805 people.
The auditorium is complete with a stage, two backstage dressing rooms, stage lighting and sound, a projector and screen, as well as an array of microphone and monitors to help you have the best performance or meeting.
Thiebaud is available to rent for $50 per hour for non-ticketed events or $400 or 10 percent of ticket sales for ticketed events. Lamar Schools are provided use of the Auditorium for a discounted rate as well.
Thiebaud has been used for school concerts, dance recitals, plays and community meetings, as well as a concert venue for visiting performers at the annual Lamar Free Fair.

Moore Pavilion can be rented for community or business events, auctions and garage sales. It is also home to the 10th Street Farmer's Market. There is no charge to use Moore Pavilion, however, it must be reserved through the Parks and Recreation Office. To do so, please call 417-682-5851 or visit our online catalog.

The Lamar Parks and Recreation Office sponsors several youth sports through Lamar Youth Athletics. Sign ups can be done through our online catalog or watch our Facebook page for specific sign up dates.

TATS operates within a 3-mile radius of Lamar city limits.
With a 24-hour notice we will also pick up for medical rides within Barton County. We however will only take individuals for medical appointments that are in Lamar.

In the event of a holiday your trash will be picked up a day later than normal.
For example: if your trash is normally picked up on a Monday and Monday is Labor day, your trash will be collected Tuesday. Tuesday pick ups will be collected on Wednesday and so on.

If your neighbor's dog, or any dog is running loose please call 417-682-3546 while the incident is occurring. Please note we only have an Animal Control Officer on duty Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. If you run into an issue where a dog has bit someone or been aggressive please call in any time immediately after the incident occurred.
