The City of Lamar is seeking an experienced and highly qualified professional to oversee the City’s administrative functions as the City Clerk of Lamar. This individual will serve under the direct supervision of the City Administrator performing administrative, financial, and human resource duties while completing the statutory functions of a City Clerk. This position maintains and provides day to day review of the City’s financial position and controls of all municipal, physical, and legal records. The City Clerk supervises subordinate personnel and is responsible for operations ensuring quality and effective customer service while completing a multitude of tasks. This position is required to attend and keep the official minutes of City Council and committee meetings. This position requires outstanding communication skills, computer skills, and time management skills, with a great attention to detail.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible financial management experience, including at least two years of experience using an automated system. Must possess an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Prior supervisory skills and experience in office organization are also desirable.
Minimum Required Education: College graduate with a bachelor’s degree or technical college degree with similar years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. On the job experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Course work or experience in computer systems and software applications also preferred. Experience with fund accounting is preferred.
The pay scale for this position is $50,000 to $65,000 annually with benefits including LAGERS retirement, health, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, along with paid holidays.
