BUILDING PURCHASED FOR CITY HALL

Media Release
The City of Lamar Purchases Building for New Office Location

On July 13ᵗʰ, 2021, the City of Lamar became the new owner of the former US Bank building located
at 132 West 10ᵗʰ Street on the Northwest corner of the town square. With some modifications and
renovation, the building will serve the community as the new location of City Hall.

“This purchase will allow the City of Lamar’s employees to better serve our citizens and the
community,” said City Administrator Russ Worsley. He added “we have been out of room at the current
location for quite some time, so this was an excellent opportunity to move to the square and add
the needed space.”

The new facility includes a covered drive-up window for those citizens who prefer face to face
contact when dropping off payments to the office. It will also have a larger meeting area which
will serve as the host site for monthly council meetings.

According to Worsley the City “will repurpose the current City Hall, allowing expansion for the
Lamar Police Department.” Currently, City Hall and the Police Department both occupy the same
building.

A moving date has not yet been established.
