Truman Days Celebration - [Map to Birthplace] & [Map to City Square] Join us and celebrate the birth of our hometown hero, President Harry S. Truman. The square will be full of vendors and organizations, shops will be open running sidewalk sales, stop by the Truman birthplace for re-enactments, games, and contests all day long!

Barco Drive-In Theater - [See What's Playing] this treat is a real blast from the past, one of the last in the country! Pack up the kids & lawn chairs for a night watching movies under the stars. Enjoy consession treats and double features! And if it's the wrong season, check out the historic Plaza Theater for a fun night out!

Barton County Relay for Life - [Map to City Park] Relay for Life is a unique, challenging and fun way to raise money for the American Cancer Society in any community, large or small, and to raise awareness of cancer and the work of the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life concept involves teams of 10-15 individuals from businesses, organizations, or other affiliations throughout our community. Relay for Life will be held at the Lamar City Park, where one team member walks, jogs, or runs around the path by the closed shelter in the park. Here's your opportunity to join the fight against cancer in the 9th Annual Barton County Relay For Life.

Lamar Free Fair - [Map to City Square] The lights, the sounds, the smells of the carnival and all of it on our downtown square. Bring the kids and the whole family to meet your friends and neighbors at one of the state's largest free fairs (no gate fee!) Take part in all the contests, games, rides and fun.

Located on the downtown historic square. Free to the public.

Halloween Hullaballoo - [Map to City Square] Trick or treat the merchants around the Lamar Square. There will be a Costume Contest and a hayride through town.






Things To Do & Happening In The Winter

Home for the Holidays / Lighting of the Square - [Map to City Square] After the Christmas Parade, experience the holiday season’s lighting of the beautiful downtown Courthouse Square, merchant open house events and special bargains, Santa, Miss Merry Christmas and much more. Lights will go on at 5:00 p.m. and the parade will begin at 5:05 p.m.

Miss Merry Christmas Pagent - Little, young, and teen girls all enjoy competing for the titles of Little Miss Christmas, Junior Miss Merry Christmas and Miss Merry Christmas.

Holiday Homes Tour - Enjoy touring beautiful homes decked out in Christmas Grandeur from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Find great gift and decorating ideas while experiencing the enchantment of the season.
